“Excuses are the bricks that build the house of failure”

Ben is a professional long course triathlete who trains with Ryan Bolton. He is based out of San Diego, CA. He enjoys spending free-time with his partner, Michelle, and dog, Kahlo. He also enjoys watching the Premier League, spearfishing, and skiing.

This is Ben’s 2nd pro year, after racing long course amateurly for 2 years.

Before triathlon, he played college tennis. After graduating, he had some interesting entrepreneurial adventures. Since a young age, Ben wanted to be a professional triathlete but had always squashed the dream as "childish". In 2019 he was curious about the Ironman distance but didn’t want to pay such a big signup fee ...so he did his own 140.6 in San Francisco. His friends fed him dimsum in Golden Gate park as he passed by on the bike. Despite it being pretty horrible and over 14 hours of pain, he was instantly hooked. After working at countless desk jobs he didn’t really care about, enough was enough! Ben took a risk and went all in on triathlon, without really knowing what to expect. In 2021 he did 7 races, and in 2022 he raced 9.

Ben’s Beliefs

  1. More gadgets and data aren't better. Just train harder!

  2. If it’s on the plan, we do it.

  3. Don’t be scared of failing frequently when chasing goals— it’ll only make you stronger. Go fail more.

  4. Be consistent.

  5. “Social media friends” aren’t real friends.

  6. People that build houses on cliffs are just asking for it!

  7. You’ve already lost if you take yourself too seriously.

  8. Training early in the morning is overrated.

  9. Panda Express is a superfood.

  10. Do we really need more #TimeTrialTuesday photos on ig?
